Claudia Gibson, Singer-Songwriter
Although Wimberley singer-songwriter Claudia Gibson has been playing and writing music since her early teens, it took more than a few career turns – along with several years of raising a family - before her recent debut as an Americana solo artist. Since re-launching her music career in early 2015, Claudia’s melodic and memorable songs about life, love and loss have been well-received by Austin-area audiences, fellow songwriters and industry pros alike.
Claudia recently finished recording her first solo album at Austin’s legendary Treefort Studios, with Gordy Quist of The Band of Heathens producing, and engineer Jim Vollentine (Spoon, Old 97s, Patti Griffin) at the boards. The album, tentatively titled Step By Step and set for release in June 2016, also features the Band of Heathens’ rhythm section, with bassist Scott Davis (who also plays several other instruments on the album) and drummer Richard Millsap, along with Lauren Hunt of Austin’s The Hard Truth on backup vocals. Gordy had encouraged Claudia to record an album of original material after hearing her play at a songwriting retreat in November, 2015.
